 THE MAKING OF SELF

From de book: “THE ESSENCE OF SPIRITUAL SCIENCE". Anatomy and etiology of modern world conditions. First edition 1946.

Autor: Kut Humi Lal Singh – Kwang Hsih

Imponderables do not dismiss us from guilt by the fact that they are to us unpredictable. On the contrary our ignorance is a constant provocation to them, only our lack of consciousness makes us victims of them, instead of Enlightened souls. Therein lies the transcendental importance of the Dhamma, namely, it enlightens us.

The first elements of the Dhamma, as we already know, are the Ariya Atthangiko Maggo, or Noble Eightfold Path of the Golden Soul, which is in fact the basic dynamics of a clean and creative Mind, or well-bred soul. This, the Budha Gautama countenanced as the means "which leads to the Cessation of Sorrow", and we vouch for with all our scientific experience that it is the only instrument toward the better knowledge of the mechanism of the Mind and nature of vital forces.

The Golden Soul (Ariya) is a name-title given to all people of pure Heart and eagerness to attain perfection through the Dhamma, and the Noble Path of the Ariya is:

Right Understanding, or freedom from delusion, fancy, ideological confusion, metaphysics and prejudice.

Right Mindedness or freedom from dogmas, ill health, bad habits, self-hypnosis, psychological complexes, weakness and confusion.

Right Speech, or freedom from meaningless talk, cussing, threats, evil designs, lies, or unwholesome expressions.

Right Action, or freedom from laziness, mischief, vices, or destructive consciousness.

Right Livelihood, or freedom from deterrent habits, disrespectability, vices, theft, lieing, gross passions, lust, greed, hatred.

Right Endeavor, or freedom from unsound ideals of perplexing ideologies, sickness, poverty and unhappiness.

Right Recollectedness, or freedom from mental idleness, befoggedness, unproductivity, futility, or impotence.

Right Meditation, or freedom from unholy designs, evil purposes, or deterrents of Karma.

The constant attention to this Noble Path, as well as to the Dhamma as a whole will enable us to work wonders, such as those of Yoguis and Maggis, to perform the greatest of all miracles which is the betterment of self. It is in fact the only way possible to free ourselves from the subtle chains of all Karmic imponderables, from the tyrannical might of biological heredity, and from all the dark and negative forces of the material, lower planes of Life.

Our interest in Spiritual Values and in the eternal Essentials of Life, is as great as that which we hold for Human needs, and this leads us to a confrontation of all the problems that affect mankind.

We are humanists to the core, and despite the fact that we shun the complexities of organization and the extreme of imposition, we have always sought to solve world problems. We have oftime been accused of being backward in our ways because we loathe organization, but our moral bent on peaceful Principles and harmonious designs should be more appreciated.

The fact is that we deem excessive organization as a source of untold evils, since it rests on regimentation and the preclusion of liberties, as well as on the limitation of individual enterprise and private life, and it conduces to a degradation of morals and to the perversion of spiritual designs. Organization is well built or developed at the expense of personal freedom and highly cherished spiritual values. This, because the rights of the many do not always match with those of individuals, and vice versa. That is why organization, when imposed on people in the name of social principles, hardly ever meets merits although these may be human demands, and most of the time trample upon the rights of the meritorious elements of human society. It doesn’t require to be a genius to understand this and to realize that individualism, so much departed from in modern times, is the only natural and logical way out of social and economic problems.

We also shun organicism because of its consequent drawbacks and ills. It may lead to better accounts and control of economics in a material way, but it is no respecter of moral rights and Spiritual Values, and we have the crude evidence of this in the great problems of modern civilization, where Capital and labor are in conciliable opponents; where social, racial and religious discrimination thrive like hideous cancers: where gross injustice, abject want, grueling poverty and supine ignorance are ruling factors; where churches are built in fabulous riches while believers starve or creep in spiritual darkness, ignorance and servitude; where violence is the cornerstone of advancement, and deceit or hypocrisy the watchword; where audacity and insolence is the common denominator of achievement, and where might makes right; where also health is an illusion and happiness a myth.

Organization is in principle and potentially a system or regime of imposition of someone on to others, of a party on to others, or of a ruling freak minority on to an indifferent or helpless frail majority. This is rather well substantiated by up-to-date social advancements. The most organized people, whether they be religious or political societies, are the most intolerant, ruthless, impositive, and insolent. The most organized nations are self-righteous, rugged nationalisms, economic oppressors of other nations, expanding empires, clear cut and dyed in the wool fascist or totalitarian systems.
